Today, we're shifting the spotlight onto something truly special: World Children's Day, a global celebration dedicated to our aspiring future leaders, innovators, and change-makers – the movers and shakers of tomorrow. In the spirit of celebration, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur invites you to step into the vibrant world of a IGCSE Year 9 student of Sunway International School (SIS) – the only Canadian, Cambridge and International Baccalaureate school in Malaysia!

The early hours evoke a sense of anticipation, as you prepare to delve into the diverse and challenging subjects that make up the IGCSE curriculum. Your schedule starts off with Mathematics as you eagerly take your place in the classroom, armed with textbooks and a readiness to delve into the intricate world of numbers and equations. Equipped with interactive whiteboards and real-time quizzes, your learning is enhanced under the guidance of dedicated educators.

Next comes English lessons – where the world of poetry and public speaking come to life.

Lunch and Self-enrichment

As the clock nudges towards noon, tummies start to rumble and it's time to hit the cosy school cafeteria – the social hub of SIS, where laughter resonates, friendships flourish, and food is more than just sustenance. With an array of delicious, healthy options to choose from, you're spoilt for choice. Fancy a salad, a smoothie, or a mouthwatering toasted panini? The cafeteria fulfils your cravings and even caters to dietary requirements, serving up a side of camaraderie with every meal!

Once your lunchtime is up, it's time to head towards the serene sanctuary of knowledge – the library. The SIS library is a high-tech, state-of-the-art facility designed for the modern-day student. With high-speed Wi-Fi, comfortable study zones, and an extensive collection of books and e-resources, it's the perfect place to dive into your revision or simply lose yourself in a gripping novel. Amid the hushed whispers and the rustling of pages, you'll find students huddled together in study groups, animatedly discussing the latest physics concept or debating the themes in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Co-curricular Activities (CCAs)

Once the final bell of the day rings, it's time to swap textbooks for CCA essentials. One of the key programmes is SIS LEADS, an initiative funded by the school that offers a treasure trove of opportunities on aspects such as digital literacy, financial literacy, youth leadership and environmental stewardship.

In the Digital Literacy programme, dive headfirst into the world of coding, web design, and even app development. You'll be creating your own digital footprint, all while learning to navigate and make sense of the digital world responsibly. SIS LEADS also provides invaluable lessons on financial literacy, such as budgeting, investing, and understanding the complex world of finance.

But it doesn't stop there. A true leader needs the right mindset, and that’s where the youth leadership component comes in. This part of the programme cultivates your leadership skills, communication abilities, and boosts your confidence through action learning, case methods, and community service.

Last but not least, SIS LEADS also help cultivate environmental stewardship, giving you an opportunity to learn and promote United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). You'll not only learn how to care for our planet, but you'll also have the chance to participate in hands-on projects aimed at making Sunway cities a greener and more sustainable home.

As the sun begins to set, the energy at Sunway International School is far from fading. It's time to unleash your inner sports star on the football pitch – a Football Turf field, the ultimate spot for some epic matches! Whether you're a seasoned player or a complete novice, the SIS sport teams such as the soccer squad welcomes you with open arms.

If football isn't quite your cup of tea, try your shot at a friendly match of basketball or ultimate frisbee! This is unquestionably your favourite time of the day, as you don’t only get to relieve stress, you learn the essence of perseverance, the thrill of competition, and the joy of playing for fun!
